The News is Common Ground, the Good News is Higher Ground!

Today's news is not really news at all but rather the major media's take on what they feel the public is ready and willing to handle. We all like sheep are being led to the slaughter believing everything we hear and see on television and read in our newspapers.

How gullible, how insecure, how fear filled can we get? The Lord said that in the last days a great deception would cover the earth, it is said of the devil he is able to blind the minds of those who do not believe, likewise the Lord said he would create a great delusion to come upon the earth in the end days, I believe that we have arrived.

When will the church wake up, when will the thousands of denominations spread throughout this country unite and lift up the standard of Jesus Christ, irrelevant of their denominational persuasion of specialized doctrines?

I am so tired of driving by church after church seeing them half empty on a Sunday morning several cars here, several cars there. Yet down the street the new mega complex where thousands arrive to be entertained for an hour and then go on their merry way to live the American dream.

I receive scores of e-mails each day filled with fear and hatred, people stating their detest for our president and our government. I believe it says in the book of Romans that we are to pray for the leaders of our country, I do not believe they are leading us well, in fact, I believe they are leading us down a very dark path. Nevertheless if there is a God, if we believe in a God then we must believe that He is in control.

We have a story in the Old Testament, a story about Israel being led captive for 70 years by a king named Nebuchadnezzar, he was God's instrument to bring about judgment on a nation who had turned away from the living God and got involved with gross immorality. King Nebuchadnezzar was God's instrument of judgment upon Israel. He later judged Nebuchadnezzar for seven years.

Could it not be that the Lord of the universe is judging many of the people on earth, especially those here in America for their turning away from what they know to be truth. A sense of greed and consumerism has reached extreme heights and the new morality that is not morality at all but rather a denigration of God's word and character has a generation dazzled!. Unless we repent, unless we are able to unite as a church that is the light in darkness we will continue to see the erosion of what many of us have held dear, a country based upon free enterprise, an individual's rights and liberty, freedom to say and believe what we think is true and finally a country that once said in God we trust.
